Treats That Make Our Pets Happier

4.4k

How often do we go shopping and find ourselves asking “Wicht treat should I get my dog or cat this time? What will make them happier?”

Pets: An Integral Part of Our Families

Over the last few decades the status of our Pets has been changing, they are now considered as fundamental elements of our family and there is a growing care to provide them the maximum well-being and happiness.

The latest data published by the ICNF (Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests) indicate that Portugal already has more than 3.1 million animals registered in the pet information system.

Expenses with pets represent an average of 12% of the Portuguese family budget (one of the conclusions of a study carried out by GFK), and the areas of food, health and hygiene are those in which owners spend more money.

The Growing Care for Pet Well-Being

From food for different breeds and ages, to hygiene products such as shampoos, brushes, toothpaste, perfumes, fashionable clothing to protect against the cold and sun, everything is important for us and our pets to feel good and happy.

Consumption of pet food and other pet products is therefore booming, opening a window of opportunity for the launch of increasingly innovative and differentiated products.

Innovative Trends in Pet Food

As our furry friends continue to hold a special place in our hearts and homes, the pet industry has witnessed remarkable growth and transformation. Pet owners now prioritize the well-being and happiness of their beloved companions more than ever before.

Lactose-Free Dairy Products with Prebiotics

The latest trends in the food sector are lactose-free dairy products with added prebiotics, which are beneficial for the intestinal flora and help the animal’s immune system. The deficiency or absence of an intestinal enzyme – lactase – in some animals means that they are unable to break down milk sugar into simpler, better absorbed carbohydrates and become intolerant to the lactose present in milk, which can cause various gastrointestinal reactions such as abdominal pain, nausea and diarrhea that cause malaise and discomfort.

“In practical terms, a glass of cow’s milk can be a major inconvenience for animals, so we should avoid giving them dairy products with lactose, sugar or not specially designed for them.

Yogurts for Dogs and Cats

To get around this problem, yogurts for dogs and cats have already arrived on the market, which in addition to being lactose-free and rich in calcium and prebiotics, have 0% fat, no preservatives, are sold in an easy-to-use and transport format and do not require refrigeration. Their high moisture content makes them easy to mix with dry foods, but they can also be fed straight from the pack or applied directly to the dispenser.

They have a creamy texture that gives them a high palatability, and from experience we can say that it is a product that they love and makes them cry for more.

Sense Test: Evaluating Pet Product Preferences

Companies like Sense Test dedicate part of their activity to studies that evaluate the acceptance and preferences of animals to these and other products, helping not only companies that produce products for animals to have the best option for sale but also owners to have purchase alternatives that meet their expectations ensuring the pleasantness and well-being of their pets.

You can find them for sale in speciality shops. Try it and share your pet’s reaction with us.
